While our jobs kept us busy (and still do) we like to explore. We love NC pottery and have traveled the state for years as collectors of pots, but wanted to know more about them. We found the time in 2003 to take a pottery class at Wilson Community College. This was a great experience and allowed us both to work with clay in different ways. Each of us found a particular means of expression. Dan enjoyed throwing and making bowls. Kathi liked the joinery and construction of handbuilding. Both of us liked the idea of creating something handmade and functional. We also realized, after years of collecting pottery mostly from the Seagrove area and from Dan Finch’s Annual Open House, we had moved full circle from collecting to creating. This new “place” was both exciting and challenging to us. Striving to become better potters, we needed to be in an environment with seasoned, experienced potters and have a mentor who would be willing to share experience and knowledge with us. This led us to Dan Finch and his studio, located in Bailey, NC. We became studio members in April 2005. We are grateful to Dan’s many gifts to us in helping us develop into the potters we are today.

As collectors and potters, we now find great pleasure in the support of those persons who collect our pots. Your enjoyment is a treat for each of us, and we sincerely hope you continue to enjoy our work as much as we enjoy creating it.
